Shell Building
Restoration
Mendocino, CA
This is an historic building that has been around in various forms for
over 100 years. Originally it as a livery stable. Later it
became the Shell Station, one of 2 gas stations in town. The
Shell station eventually closed and it became a bus storage building
for the local school district. There was also some pool tables
inside for locals to play with. Later it was purchased by a
series of people who hired me to fix the building in the mid
80's. The 90' span 2x trusses were sagging about 14-18", the
walls were bowing in and there were only old rotted logs for
footings. I remodeled the building for them making it into shops,
stores and an auto repair. The trusses are now fixed and
performing well and there are new footings designed for future
expansion in a 2nd and 3rd story.
