Willits Country
Mall
Willits, CA
This is a old unreinforced brick building that was built around the
turn of the century, 1900. I'm told that when it was built, John
Muir had something to do with it and that they were experimenting with
different techniques for brick laying and mortar. Apparently
whatever they were doing worked. The building was in very good
shape after almost 80 years, unlike most unreinforced brick
buildings. In the early 80's we had to bring the building up to
code, brace the walls and open it up so that it could be used as a
retail space. It became a local mall with many shops, stores,
restaurants and offices upstairs. Recently we did some more work
on the building for a new owner making it into a feed store. You can
see the latest work on the photo on the bottom.
