Brief History of A&E
Architects and Engineers Associated (A&E) was formed in 1990. After 14 successful years of working under the name of Dennis McCroskey & Associates - Structural Engineers, I received an architectural license and extended my scope of services to include architectural design and planning. Prior to forming A&E, I, and my associates, worked with many other architects to provide structural engineering services on all types of projects. In addition, we did a number of architectural, planning and administration projects during those years for other clients. A&E is a sole proprietorship run by myself, Dennis McCroskey.

As one of only a hand full of people licensed as both structural engineer and architect, we do multidisciplinary design on projects where we are the primary design consultant. Being both engineers and architects creates a great advantage in all aspects of the project. Everything happens quicker with less possibilities for error or miscommunication. Our projects have included schools, hospitals, commercial, residential, industrial, institutional, public facilities, transportation facilities, historical restorations, and museums.

We've dealt with a variety of building jurisdictions including OSHPD, DSA, Office of Education, SFM, Cal Trans, Historical Review Boards, County of Mendocino, Recreation Districts, Coastal Commissions and a variety of other public and private agencies. The remainder of our work has been for developers, contractors, wineries and other private individuals. Projects have included, public works, reconstruction, city halls, police departments, fire stations, courthouses, animal shelter, maintenance facilities, museums, and a variety of remodel and tenant improvements. We've also worked with a number of nonprofit and community groups.

As architects, we do multi-disciplinary design on projects where we are the primary design consultant.  Our projects have included schools, hospitals, commercial, residential, industrial, institutional, historical restoration, museums, reconstruction and civic projects. Approximately 50% of our work has involved dealing with state agencies including DSA, OLA, OSHPD, Office of Education and SFM.  Much of our other work has been for public entities such as the County of Mendocino.  We have also worked with a number of nonprofit and community groups.

We are a fully automated office. We were one of the pioneers in doing CAD drawings in 1984, before anyone in northern California. We've developed a library of thousands of details suitable for reuse in a variety of drawings. These capabilities allow us to explore many design scenarios as well as produce our working drawings quickly and efficiently. With our wide range of experience in architectural design, construction management and engineering, we have produced a number of successful projects. Our work is very thorough, well organized, timely, within budget and of the highest professional quality.

In addition to design work, I've served on the Mendocino County Regional Park Planning Committee, the Mendocino Coast Sports Foundation and the Computer Applications Committee for the Structural Engineers Association of California.
